Description
This tour will introduce you to the secrets of the Murano method of glassblowing, a world renowned art. The tour includes a visit to a glass factory showroom located in St. Mark's Square where you will be told about the origins of the art of glassblowing which dates back to the Roman Empire and how, in the 13th Century, the island of Murano became the center of glass making.

The Venetian Republic ordered that all glass fondies of the city should be constructed in Murano in order to protect Venice wood buildings from fire. Soon, Murano glass makers became the most important citizens of the island, and in the ages they refined their techniques thanks to the trade between the Venetian Republic and all the Middle and Far East countries which also practiced the ancient tradition in glass making. Following this introduction, you will attend at a demonstration by a master artisan that uses the traditional old style techniques of glass blowing will create for you a unique glass item. At the end of the tour each of the participants will receive a small glass gift as a souvenir of this unforgettable visit.
