Description
Start your ultimate Cape Town experience with a ride along the winding Atlantic coast to the township of Imizano Yetho or Mandela Park. It is a township with very challenging living conditions where you will meet your young Xhosa guide, Nandipha.

Your guide will take you to a local community center that houses several craft stalls where you can buy small items that have been handmade by the locals. You will hear insights into local life in this area and the difficulties that residents have faced.

From the center, you will head to a local tavern or shebeen. You will pass by roadside hawkers selling food, furniture and clothing. Then, you will stop at Nandipha's home for tea and sample local delicacies such as Smileys or barbecued sheep's head with all its teeth showing and Walkie Talkies or chicken beaks and feet.

After your township visit, you will return to Bo-Kaap which was an area beyond the original city walls. This place is known spicy Cape Malay cuisine. You will get to explore its cobblestone streets. Between the rows of painted multi-colored houses you will reach the home of a superb local cook, a featured guest on Master Chef South Africa who will help you prepare and cook a typical Malay lunch. Once the meal is prepared, you will sit down together to enjoy your food while discussing the local family heritage.

When your meal is done and is fully satisfied, you will continue to the small local Bo-Kaap Museum. Here, you will learn more about the history and origins of the Cape Malays. You will also have another stop to visit the local spice shop and sample some of the different exotic spices imported from eastern lands.

A quick visit to a local mosque will follow before you drive back through the colorful streets and return to your accommodation.
